Fatima Bhutto is a Pakistani journalist and writer, having published work in the New Statesman, The Daily Beast and The Guardian. Her first book, a volume of poetry entitled Whispers of the Desert, was published in 1997 when she was 15 years old. This was followed by 8.50 am. 8 October 2005, a collection of first-hand accounts of the eponymous earthquake in Pakistan, in 2006. Her 2010 memoir Songs of Blood and Sword tells the story of her family in Pakistan, including her grandfather's political reign as former President of Pakistan, the feeling of submission and censorship in the 1980s after he was overthrown, and the assassination of her father.
