Some Kids I Taught, And What They Taught Me

Kate Clanchy is a writer, poet, teacher and journalist. She has a thirty year career in teaching. She’s the recipient of several awards for her writing. She received a Forward Prize for her poetry collection Slattern and her novel Meeting the English was shortlisted for the Costa Prize. Clanchy’s BBC Radio 3 programme We Are Writing A Poem About Home was a collaborative work with students and was shortlisted for the Ted Hughes Award 2015. In 2018 an anthology of her students’ work, England: Poems from a School, was published to great acclaim, and she was awarded an MBE for services to literature. Her new book, Some Kids I Taught and What They Taught Me, has been called ‘the best book on teachers and children and writing that I've ever read’ by Philip Pullman. @KateClanchy1
