A.L. Kennedy
AL Kennedy is a Scottish writer and stand-up comedian. She is the author of six novels, two books of non-fiction, and five collections of short stories. She has twice been selected as one of Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists and has won many prizes including the Lannan Literary Award, the Austrian State Prize for European Literature, the Somerset Maugham Award and the Saltire Scottish Book of the Year Award. Her 2007 novel, Day, won the Costa Book of the Year award, and her new book (published in March 2013) is On Writing, a masterclass in the craft of writing, based on the hugely popular blog that Kennedy writes for the Guardian. She lives in Glasgow and is a part-time lecturer in creative writing at Warwick University.
