Jack Hartnell
Jack Hartnell is Lecturer in Art History at the University of East Anglia. He has previously held positions at Columbia University, the Courtauld Institute, the Max-Planck-Institut and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Jack’s research and teaching focuses on the history of art and visual culture in the very broadest sense, investigating the relationship between art objects and their makers, audiences, and original contexts. His academic publications and teaching cover a diverse range of subjects, including twentieth-century painting, historical surgical instruments, renaissance sculpture, medieval medicine and anatomical practice, the history of cartography, eighteenth-century architecture, scientific and mathematical diagrams, contemporary political caricature, and internet art.
